Service Learning Project: Overview

Summary:

For this assignment, students working in groups will analyze websites of their choice (ideally local groups, organizations, or businesses) using Baymard Links to an external site. review tools to identify User Experience (UX) recommendations. Groups will formalize their analyses for website clients in brief reports and corresponding short presentations. To facilitate project management and ensure accountability, each group will maintain a Gantt chart, and individual students will submit regular progress reports and concluding postmortems. Each group also will provide brief feedback about using the Baymard tools.

Through this project, students will practice working collaboratively to produce professional materials for authentic client audiences. By doing this, students will demonstrate their understanding of audience awareness, UX research and application, ethos, professionalism, and document design.

Materials created for this project will be shared with clients. Clients will provide feedback about materials, but the instructor retains final authority over all project and course grading issues.
